The blueberry season is in full swing at Smallfolk Farm in Mount Horeb, Wisconsin. The farm opened for U-Pick blueberries on Wednesday, July 5, and is open from 10am to 5pm on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays.

The blueberries are coming in nicely this year, despite the ongoing drought. Farmer Dave Hollander says that the irrigation system has helped to keep the plants hydrated, and the berries are sweet and juicy.

There are two varieties of blueberries grown at Smallfolk Farm: Bluecrop and Jersey. Bluecrop blueberries are the most common variety grown in Wisconsin, and they are known for their sweet flavor. Jersey blueberries are a newer variety that is known for their large size and tart flavor.

The U-Pick prices at Smallfolk Farm are $6 per pint for Bluecrop blueberries and $7 per pint for Jersey blueberries. You can also purchase pre-picked blueberries, but they are not available this year due to the drought.

In addition to blueberries, Smallfolk Farm also offers a variety of other produce, including strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, and vegetables. The farm also has a petting zoo, a playground, and a picnic area.
